Capital District, NY
Hi, I'm Matt Dembling. For 15 years I've been the person inside large-company operations who automates the spreadsheets, fixes the broken integration, and quietly takes hours of manual work off everyone's plate. Now I do that same work for small businesses around the Capital District — and for remote clients who'd rather work with someone they can call by name.
What I do
Researched, search-optimized blog posts written and shipped to your site on a regular cadence. You stop "needing to start blogging," your site starts ranking. agent-built.com is a working example of the same pipeline running daily on one of my own sites.
We sit down (in person or async) and map the manual work eating your week — quoting, invoicing, reporting, copy-paste between tools — then I build the quiet automation that does it for you. You keep the result and a written runbook.
Internal tools tailored to how your team actually works. Document processing, knowledge-base assistants, support triage. Modern when it makes sense, boring when it doesn't — I'll tell you which.
The day-to-day things that go wrong: NAS and file-storage setup, data recovery from locked or failed machines, password and account recovery, security hardening. Per-job pricing, or a monthly support arrangement if you'd rather have someone to call.
Google AI Mode just crossed 1 billion monthly users. ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Bing Copilot, and Google's AI Overviews are answering customer questions right now using whatever structured data they can find. If your site doesn't speak their language — Schema.org markup, FAQ structure, AI‑crawler allowlists, llms.txt — you're invisible to the surface where the majority of search now happens.
The fix isn't expensive or magical. It's a specific set of technical moves most consultants haven't caught up to yet. Here's what's involved.

Written report, 3 days
I scan your site against the full GEO/AEO checklist — schema markup, llms.txt, AI‑bot allowlist, FAQ structure, content patterns, citation hooks. You get a prioritized written report of what's missing and what to fix first.

Done for you, 1–2 weeks
We ship the full implementation. Schema.org structured data per page, FAQPage schema for direct answer extraction, llms.txt, AI crawler allowlist, content rewrites for citation hooks, GSC + Bing verification. Audit credit applies if you start with that.
Most local SMB sites take 4–8 hours of work spread across a 1–2 week window. You get a written handoff with everything we changed.

Monthly monitoring & iteration
Once you're set up, the work is ongoing: AI engines change crawl behavior, your competitors catch on, new schemas emerge. Monthly checks against major AI engines, content adjustments, schema updates, recommendations on what to publish next.
Right for businesses where being cited in AI answers actually moves revenue (services, e-commerce, local trades, professional services).
Discuss retainerDisclosure: agent-built.com, agentalmanac.org, and this site (refinedsolutionsit.com) all run the full setup. You can inspect any of them — the work isn't theoretical.
Need a plan first?
Sometimes you don't need to hire anyone yet — you just need someone to look at the thing and tell you what's worth doing. Pick whichever way you prefer to work.
$97
Send me your messiest operational problem in writing. I send back a prioritized written plan within three business days of payment and a clear write-up — concrete fixes, cost estimates, which one to do first.
$497
Best when you'd rather actually talk it through. 60–90 minutes on video to dig into your situation, followed by a written action plan delivered after.
About
I grew up in the Capital District and never really left. My career has been operations and IT engineering inside large companies — the kind with five-figure user counts, regulated data, and the constant pressure to do more with the same headcount. That pressure is the mother of automation, and I've spent the last decade-plus building the tools that quietly handle work no one ever wants to think about again.
The honest truth is that the same playbook works just as well in a five-person law office, a contractor's back office, or a medical practice in Latham. The tools got cheap, the integrations got real, and most small businesses are still running their day on someone's spreadsheet. There's a lot of room to make things better — and I'd rather spend that time helping shops and practices around Schenectady, Albany, and Saratoga than another 5,000-employee org chart.
If you'd like to talk, the form below is the fastest way. I read everything that comes in and reply within a business day.
