Salesforce just put Claude inside the CRM

August 28, 2026 · Matt Dembling · Schenectady, NY

On August 26th, Salesforce and Anthropic announced Claudeforce. The short version: Claude can now read and act on a company's Salesforce data directly. A sales team can ask it about their accounts and it answers from the live CRM, updates records, the whole thing. It's genuinely impressive and for a lot of big companies it probably makes sense.

It also changes where customer data goes. When the AI lives in someone else's cloud, everyone's protection is a contract. Salesforce has one with Anthropic. The business has one with Salesforce. And the customers whose names and histories are actually in that CRM never saw any of those contracts.

I set things up the other way around for small businesses. The AI runs on a computer you own, sitting in your building, and your customer data stays on it. That's the whole setup.

And I'm not asking anyone to take my word for it. As I write this I'm moving my own business onto exactly that kind of box, the same hardware I'd put in your office. When it's done, the demo is me showing you my phone talking to the computer in my office, with nothing in between.

If you're curious what that would look like for your business, ask me. Happy to show you mine first!
